The 2010 Visa U.S. Halfpipe Grand Prix kicked off this weekend in Copper Mountain, CO, and TNF snowboard athlete Kaitlyn Farrington won the Northern Hemisphere’s first major pipe competition of the season.

Following her gold medal performance at the European X Games last March, the 20-year-old continued her impressive rise toward the top of the female snowboarding rankings by taking home her first Grand Prix win and beating out Olympic gold and bronze medalist Kelly Clark. Click below to check out Farrington’s winning run, which featured a backside 900 and back-to-back 720s.

This weekend’s event also featured the first-ever ski halfpipe competition at the Grand Prix, with TNF’s own Mike Riddle finishing second only to fellow Canadian Justin Dorey. Riddle was especially stoked about the ski halfpipe’s debut in the Grand Prix, as the event is being considered for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi by the IOC. Congrats to both for a successful weekend in Colorado!
