Jun 22 | Congratulations Juan Martinez - 2011 National Geographic Emerging Explorer

This has been a big week for The North Face ambassador Juan Martinez. Last Saturday he became the first college graduate in his family when he graduated from California State University Los Angeles with a degree in History. Today, he accepted the National Geographic Emerging Explorer for his dedication to the environment and getting youth outdoors through his work with the Sierra Club, Children & Nature Network and The North Face.

Sierra Club National Youth Education Director Martin LeBlanc said it well in a recent blog post about Juan: His rise is a testament to the power of the outdoors and how it can create a new generation of natural leaders.

Congratulations! We couldn't be prouder.

Look for more about Juan in this month's issue of National Geographic and Outside Magazine.

I just sent this post to a bunch of my friends as I agree with most of what you’re saying here and the way you’ve presented it is awesome.

National Geographic’s Emerging Explorers Program recognizes and supports uniquely gifted and inspiring adventurers, scientists and storytellers making a significant contribution to world knowledge through exploration while still early in their careers. The Emerging Explorers each receive a $10,000 award to assist with research and to aid further exploration. The program is made possible in part by the Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation, which has supported the program since its inception in 2004.

It thrilled him with a great dread of discovery, but the man went on. A very few moments after that, a young woman, with a slight girlish form, a sweet spare face in which there was no vestige of colour, and large widely opened patient eyes, polyester gazebo from the seat where he had observed her sitting, and came to speak to him.

That's a great attitude, I hope the incoming comments and suggestions are equally positive. I know I've said it in person, but for anyone reading the comments, its awesome!

Classes are back on which means the collaborative process has begun. We had Brigitte followed by Marg and the quilts started coming out of the bag

I suggest this site to my friends so it could be useful & informative for them also Great effort.

Hi Gretchen! I’m doing 4 at a time, because I’m sinultameously adding them to Flickr, and didn’t want to overwhelm my Flickr stream with photos of my feet :) And yes, I’m using my 28 everyday to try to get some continuity with the placement of my feet. AUTO
