USA Climbing, the National Governing Body for climbing, is proud to announce that the 2013 ABS National Bouldering Championships Presented by The North Face will be broadcast live and in their entirety at LT11.tv, ClimbingNarc.com & Neverstopexploring.com at 10:45AM MST (Semifinals) & 7:30PM MST (finals) on Saturday February 23rd. Please tune in to see the best climbers in the country compete to be our 2013 National Champion.
Adding a new partner to the mix, USAC Climbing and the UBC Pro Tour have for the first time partnered with the industry leading production company Louder Than 11 to produce the broadcast. USAC Operations Director Kynan Waggoner ran point in bringing broadcast to Nationals this year.
“Our job is to support athletes and to grow the sport of climbing by bringing the ABS 14 National championships to the largest possible number of spectators and it’s a pleasure to announce that we’ll be broadcasting live online.” Says Waggoner. “We hope everyone will tune in and support all the climbers competing to become our next National Champion.”
Directing a live broadcast marks an important achievement for Louder Than 11, a company well known for their prolific output of climbing videos along with their iconoclastic tagline, “Free whether you like it or not.” LT11 partner Jordan Shipman has been working hard to expand his company’s capacity for the challenge.
Shipman summed up LT11’s preparation for the event: “The challenge we faced was coming up with a way to produce a quality live stream at a financially feasible cost to the industry. By staying on the cutting edge of technology we were able to make this happen. People can look forward to complete quality live coverage streamed in 720p HD. You can throw this bad boy on your HD flatscreen and anyone can watch the event on their mobile devices. We’ve wanted to do this for quite some time and I couldn’t be more excited about the event. This is only the beginning. “
For the UBC Pro Tour, this is its first live broadcast ever produced specifically by a climbing-based production company.
“This is a milestone for our industry” Says Pete Ward, Director of the UBC Pro Tour. “Jordan and his partner Jon Glassberg bring an exceptionally talented team of climbers to produce a competition broadcast for the first time and the results are going to be great. If we’re going to grow climbing to the heights we want it to reach, it’s going to have to be climbers who do the heavy lifting and to see these guys step up is awesome.”
The ABS 14 National Championships will be broadcast LIVE and in their entirety beginning at 10:45AM MST (Semifinals) & 7:30PM MST (Finals) on Saturday Feb. 23rd 2013 and only at LT11.tv, ClimbingNarc.com & neverstopexploring.com.
